At Locable, we help local organizations, such as the local magazine, Chamber of Commerce, or Main Street Association, simplify the job of promoting and supporting local businesses.
I joined Locable in January of 2013 after spending 6 years running the websites of family-owned publications Here in Hanover, Image, and Woodstock Magazine and helping many local businesses with their websites and marketing along the way (see Past Experiences).
While I joined Locable slightly after its founding, the core problem of helping small and local businesses be better marketers is one that I grappled with regularly.
Through this experience, I discovered a passion for helping people build more profitable and efficient businesses through the application of technology which now inspires my vision for Locable.
Developer Origin Story
When I first joined Locable, I did not consider myself a developer by trade. Despite earning an IT degree from RPI, my development experience was limited to managing WordPress sites and experimenting with custom plugins and trying to teach myself various programming languages. Nevertheless, as an MBA-educated self-starter, I saw an opportunity to build a business that could make a real impact!
At some point during the process of working on Locable, I became frustrated with relying on contractors to build our app. We just couldn't move fast enough! So, I dove into Rails to fill that need and fell in love with the framework in the process.
